Bonjour,
This disco was on planed wood 3 x 1.5 cm in a stack of wood on an allotment garden, Sheffield,Yorkshire, N. England. Found on 23 May 2026.
The ascocarp was sessile, whitish, rarely open, more closed and globular, thickly coated in long hairs, up to 0.4mm diameter, mostly smaller than this.
The spores were approx 7-10 x 2,5-3 um.
Asci up to approx 50 x 9 um, tips blueing in iodine.
Paraphyses filiform, rounded ends, approx 2 um wide.
Hairs were thinly lanceolate/pointed up to 50 um at base, approx 50um long. There is a tendency for the hairs to narrow suddenly towards the tip. Under oil immersion they appear to have a rough edge.
Scales on images are either in 10 um intervals or 1mm.
Is this an immature form of Hyaloscypha eg H. fuckelii?
Steve
