Scleromitrula (?) from decaying leaves of Fagus/Acer
Andreas Gminder,

Hello, today we found in a moist steep decidous forest (Fagus, Acer pseudoplatanus) in the decaying leaves layer lying in the moist ground a Sclerotiniaceae, which reminded me macroscopically at Scleromitrula capillipes.
Microscopically we were surprised with spores containing 2-4 cell nuclei, which ruled out S. candolleana as well as 8-spored forms of S. capillipes. Also the somewhat fusoid spore shape is strange, but this shape and also the size varied from one apothecium to another (we had only two).
Spore size 9-10 x 4,2-4,8 µm and 10-12.5 x 5-6 µm, so not even really overlapping from one apothecium to the next.
Exc. a textura globuloa, without IKI-reaction. Subhymenium without IKI reaction.
Asci IKI bb 3, typical Sclerotinia-type, with croziers.
Paraphyses cylindrical, seemingly without content.
any ideas?
thank you and all the best,
Andreas and Sylvie
