Acrocordia
Gernot Friebes, 07-03-2017 12:08
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some literature on the genus Acrocordia. I've come across presumably A. gemmata a few times in the past and again a few days ago on bark of living Ulmus laevis (see the attached pictures). However, there are 76 names under Acrocordia in Index Fungorum so I would like to have some literature available to make sure that my identifications are actually correct - who knows how many similar species are out there!

Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Acrocordia
Hi Gernot, Dictionary of fungi (2008) gives Coppins & James (Lichenologist 10:179, 1978; UK spp.) and Harris (More Florida Lichens, 1995).
There are a number of hits for Acrocordia in the BSM and a search in Harvard's Hollis+ gives a number hits for more recent studies as well.
I'll be happy to try to help you with scans of anything if I can! Just let me know and I can do it this week.
best - Jason

Re : Acrocordia
Thank you very much for your help and kind offer! Behind the scenes Martin also provided me literature (Orange 2013), which proved to be very helpful. Both Orange and Coppins & James (1978) mention only one further corticolous species in A. cavata with smaller ascospores and asci. Thus, I think I can safely call my collection A. gemmata.

Thanks again to both of you and best wishes,
Gernot
