Hyalorbilia crème
Javier Ormad, 22-02-2010 21:37

Hi Javier,

yes, this is H. ulicicola (ined.). We have named this species so because JPP found it frequently on Ulex, but later it appeared on various hosts including conifers.

Spores are very typical, fusoid, size exact. Also only a few species of the genus get such big apos, including inflatula.

Is it actually wood? looks a bit like bark?

I would like to note this collection, it is the first record on Eucalyptus. Could you please send me the collection data?

If you search on Eucalyptus please take care of Orbilia alba, the interesting rather large white Orbilia from last year. I would very much need a further fresh collection.

thanks
Zotto

Re:Hyalorbilia crème
The material is one of the layers that form a stump eucalyptus logging that degrades over time.
I have not the fresh material and barely dried (it is very difficult to study these species). I will try to return to the site this week and see if there are specimens.
By mail and distributional data would score if you can get fresh material
Thanks

Re:Hyalorbilia crème
Thanks, Javier, but I actually do not need this ulicicola which I have seen plenty times, and which does not occur in my area.

I do not know where you collect but it was near Castrillon where this Orbilia alba on Eucalyptus came from, by Enrique Rubio. This one we would very much like to culture and sequence.
