Nemania carbonacea from Chile?
Götz Palfner, 14-11-2024 04:18
Götz PalfnerDear community, is this Nemania carbonacea? Microscopical attributes are coherent with the description but the stroma surface looks very smooth to me, with ostioles hardly pronounced... Found on a twig of Drimys winteri in southern Chile.

Re : Nemania carbonacea from Chile?
The erumpent nature of stromata, plus the shape of the ascal plug, points to a possible alternative genus: Biscogniauxia.

cheers

Re : Nemania carbonacea from Chile?
Dear Thomas, I tried the interactive key on the Xylariaceae website by Rogers, Ju and Adams, and the specimen keys out effortless as Biscogniauxia capnodes, which makes perfect sense as this taxon is known from Argentina and Chile. Thank you very much!!! Best wishes
