Bonsoir,J'aimerais savoir si la combinaison Podostroma alutacea correpond à ce champignon qui pousse au sol dans les forêts de montagne.
Dans un précédent message sur ce forum, il était indiqué qu'il s'agissait plutôt de Hypocrea leucopus. Mais Podostroma leucopus est donné comme synonyme, si j'ai bien compris, de P. alutaceum dans l'ouvrage Genera of Bionectriaceae (studes in Mycology N° 42).

Hypocrea alutacea et H. leucopus sont bien deux espèces différentes sèparées par leur anamorphe respective, Verticillium-like (conidie hyalines) pour H. leucopus et Trichoderma-like (conidies vertes) pour H. alutacea. Typiquement H. leucopus se développe au sol ou sur litière et est de couleur plus pale qu'Hypocrea alutacea qui lui, est lignicole. La partie fertile est aussi un carctère important, répartie sur la presque totalité de la fructification chez H. alutacea et retreinte au capitule chez H. leucopus.

Christian is correct. We now include Podostroma in Hypocrea. There are two recent taxonomic works on these stipitate Hypocrea, including some new species.
2004. Chamberlain HL, Rossman AY, Stewart ES, Ulvinen T, Samuels GJ. The stipitate species of Hypocrea (Hypocreales, Hypocreaceae) including Podostroma. Karstenia 44: 1-24.

This statement clearly means that most of images given in such book as Ascomyceti d'Italia for example and many others , obviously showing stipitate Hypocrea give wrong names.
Gary I am interested in receiving the cited pdfs.
René : oui, il s'agit bien de la récolte que m'a remise Didier Borgarino le dimanche dans le bois duMont, sur la commune de javol (48).
Elle est d'ailleurs également présente dans les forêts de la région de Ste Sigolène où nous l'avions récoltée il y a 3 ou 4 ans avec Christian Hurtado , Didier et patrice Chapon.

About H. leucopus and H. alutacea. Morphology of the stroma is not very informative. In order to distinguish these two species you really have to know the anamorph -- or sequence DNA. Two weeks ago I saw collections from Fagus fruit. These may represent a new species. As with all groups of 'microfungi' you have to be aware of the subtsratum -- if it is growing out of the ground, just as with Cordyceps, dig deeper to try to find out if there is a solid substratum. Probably there are more species to be discovered.

Sur les trois premières photos, les individus étaient terrestres. L'hyménium semble bien limité à la clavule. Certainement d'après les expliations de Christian, Hypocrea leucopus.
Sur la dernière, l'unique individu était sur bois et la limite de l'hyménium est moins nette. Peut-être H. alutaceum...
