Hello everyone,On 08/04/26, I found a growth site with Ficaria verna in the 'De Vorte Bossen' nature reserve in Ruiselede (Belgium).
Numerous leaves were infected with what appeared to be a mildew at first glance.
Under the microscope, I had the impression that I was dealing with two fungi: the mildew Peronospora ficariae and possibly the anamorph of Botryotinia ficariarum, Botrytis ficariarum.
Peronospora was always on the underside of the leaf; Botrytis on both sides of the leaf. Neither was on the leaf stalks.
Conidia of Botrytis:
(13.5) 15.3 - 16.9 (17) × (7.1) 8.3 - 11.5 (11.8) µm
Q = (1.4) 1.42 - 1.9 (2) ; N = 11
Me = 16 × 9.6 µm ; Qe = 1.7
Are my two identifications correct? And is it common for both species to grow together?
