Orbilia with resin deposits
Marc Detollenaere, 25-03-2026 22:23
Marc DetollenaereDear Forum,

On a debarked stem of Tilia, we found some whitish glassy fruitbodies. No spores were found but the paraphyses all had resin deposits on the top, some of them were also branched.
Could this be Orbilia cardui?

Re : Orbilia with resin deposits
Without spores it is impossible. But section Arthrobotrys is likely, not sure if O. auricolor can be excluded. The margin is smooth, so I do not expect an oblique prismatica of cell rows there.
