Scopinella on Dryas octopetala
Gernot Friebes, 11-03-2026 14:14
Hi,

I would like to share a collection of Scopinella sp. on Dryas leaves. It is close to S. barbata but differs in smaller ascospores: here they are generally only up to 6.0(6.5) µm in diameter.
Chlebicki (2002) describes a similar collection on Dryas with long terminal hairs and ascospores up to 6.5 µm in diameter, but the ascospores are illustrated with a straight lighter-coloured central band rather than a darker pigmented Z-shaped band as in my collection and in S. barbata.
Unfortunately I could not find any asci to check the number of ascospores.

Maybe someone has found something similar before.

Best wishes,
Gernot
