Lichenicolous myxomycete on Lopadium
Robin Isaksson, 01-03-2026 18:46
Robin IsakssonHi!

This species i se from time to time in the early spring in Sweden; now found on several localitys.
The thing is that i have only seen it beside or on the thallus of Lopadium disciforme. Could it be so easy that its a lichenicolous species?

Ascomata;
At first bright orange- later deapred and finly blackishbrown.

hyphae brownish, found in thallus of lopadium.

"Spores" orange, 13-17 x 13-16 um and smooth to finely granulose.

Anyone knows this myxomycete?

Re : Lichenicolous myxomycete on Lopadium
The wrong forum for myxomycetes, but I strongly suspect this is Licea gloeoderma, especially due to the tiny yellowish-orange granules on the peridium/among the spores. This is characteristic of this species. Often found on mosses or liverworts, but probably also living on lichens.
