Similar to Pyrenopeziza deuncinata?
Mirek Gryc, 12-12-2025 18:39

Hello everyone.
Macrofeatures similar to Mollisia but definitely not the same genus. They grew on debarked wood of Salix sp. Ascomata maximum of 0.5-0.6 mm. The outer cells are brown but the marginal hairs hyaline. Perhaps the fruiting bodies are too young, but the spores are already well developed.
The reaction to iodine was positive, exactly the same as in the drawings on Zotto's disc in the Pyrenopeziza deuncinata catalog.
Croziers absent even though construction in some places would indicate his presence. I also saw young ascus.
The spores are also very similar in shape and content, but much wider.
(8.1) 8.8 - 10 (11.1) × (2.7) 3 - 3.35 (3.4) µm
Q = (2.4) 2.9 - 3.5 (3.6) ; N = 8
Me = 9.6 × 3.1 µm; Qe = 3.1

10,04 x  3,01
  8,78 x 3,01
  9,97 x 3,10
  8,09 x 3,35
  9,39 x 3,21
  9,62 x 2,66
  9,89 x 3,40

Asci: Me = 39.7 × 6.2 µm

Should I look for another type?

Mirek

Hi Mirek,

Nice finding, it looks like Olla transiens, it looks like lack of croziers and a downward hook.

Checkck the glassy parts of the hairs out for IKI reaction.

Cheers,

Stip

Re : Similar to Pyrenopeziza deuncinata?
Hi Stip.
You're right, it will be this genre. Apparently I'm getting old and so is my memory. I've tested this species before, but this time the reaction to iodine in the hair was so weak that I didn't even notice it. I looked through the photos and I see some changes in one of them. I'll check again in the evening.
Thank you very much and best regards.
