Dactylellina candida/candidum?
David Chapados, 30-04-2025 01:29
David ChapadosHi,

I found Dactylellina candida/candidum, recently and I'm having a hard time finding the current name.

In Zhang's Nematode-Trapping Fungi from 2014 it's under Da. candidum.

In 2020 Monograph of the Orbiliomycetes, under Da. candida.

Index Fungorum list it under Dactylium candidum.

Which is the accepted one?

Index Fungorum:

https://www.indexfungorum.org/Names/Names.asp
Dactylellina candida

https://www.indexfungorum.org/Names/Names.asp
Dactylium candidum

Both names are in Index of Fungi as you see. It is not shown there that they are synonyms.

The ending:

latin: candidus, a, um (m, f, n)

Dactylellina f - candida
Dactylium n - candidum

D. candida is an unclear name as you can see in our monograph. In the last decades the name was used in different ways, see e.g. the tree on p. 1608. Drechsler (1937a) used the name for what fits D. yunnanensis or D. haptotyla (I am not sure anymore).
