Unknown pyrenomycetous fungus growing on cowberry
Henri Koskinen, 19-04-2025 08:51
Could you help me in the right direction with this pyrenomycetous fungus. It was growing 14.04.2025 on Vaccinum vitis-idaea in central Finland. There several groups of fruitbodies on the stem. Diameter of the group depicted in my photo is 0,9 mm, individual fruitbodies were about 0,25 mm in diam.

Hi Henri,

compare also Gibbera compacta:

see also this photograph of Gibbera vaccini:

Re : Unknown pyrenomycetous fungus growing on cowberry
Thank you.  Spore size and substrate seems to favor G. vaccinii here.

Well, I wonder if G. vaccinii and G. compacta are two different species...
