Small-spored O. flavidobrunneola
Viktorie Halasu, 14-04-2025 23:19
Viktorie HalasuHello,

I've microscoped exsiccate of an Otidea which looks a lot like O. flavidobrunneola, but the spores are too small. Everything else is OK - macro appearance of the exsiccate, paraphyses shape, spore shape, ectal excipulum structure, KOH and MLZ reactions. I have studied six other collections of flavidobrunneola with only a small difference in spore size, but this one is distinctly different. I measured sporeprint deposited on hymenium surface, so the apothecia should have been mature (although this species notoriously matures tardily).

What do you think - is it flavidobrunneola or not? Czechia, collected in July, 370 m a.s.l., on edge of a path under broadleaved trees (Tilia, Fraxinus), bedrock is paragneiss.

Thank you for your opinions.
Viktorie
