unknown pyrenomycete
Irmgard Krisai-Greilhuber, 18-01-2025 01:04
Good evening, in an open oak forest in Burgenland we found this pyrenomycete on Quercus. The fruiting bodies are spherical, tiny (approx. 180 µm), black, not hairy, with a shortly protruding ostiolum. Asci iodine negative, paraphyses present, spores hyaline, with one septum, (4.9-)5.3-6(-6) x (2-)2.2-2.6(-2.8), Q= (2-)2.2-2.6(-2.7) (n=10). Any idea welcome.
Best,
Irmgard

Re : unknown pyrenomycete
Dear Irmgard,
Asci are unitunicate, aren't they ?
Perhps you have to look at Chaetosphaeriales (like Chaetosphaeria myriocarpa ?). Anamorph would be expected.
Best wishes to you and Sydowia.
Alain
