Pyrenomycete on Alnus glutinosa
Tomaz Vucko,

Would perhaps someone here recognise this species I found in the recent days on Alnus glutinosa?
IKI-, CR+
Spores measure roughly:
(32.5) 33.1 - 39.9 (45.7) × (16.5) 17.4 - 19.3 (21.9) µm
Q = (1.7) 1.9 - 2.1 (2.2) ; N = 16
Me = 36.3 × 18.4 µm ; Qe = 2
Interestingly ascus seem to be very delicate and it leaks spores, also sideways, almost as soon they are thrown into a water mount and are hard to catch as whole. There was also mild frost in the last days if that might have affected something.
Location is Slovenia.
Best regards and a happy New Year!

Hi, Tomaz!
It reminds me of Dothivalsaria megalospora.
Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Pyrenomycete on Alnus glutinosa
Hi Tomaz and Gernot, both early birds!
I agree with Gernot and I congratulte Tomaz for the quality of his illustrations, both macro- and micro-, allowing to name this fungus confidently.
The phylogenetic affinities of this taxon are questionable and still unkown. I hope someone will be interested in obtaining sequences.
All my best,
Jacques

Re : Pyrenomycete on Alnus glutinosa
Hello Gernot and Jacques!
Thanks for your replies. After some quick reading from old description of species it seems like a very good suggestion. The place of finding I have almost at home soo I will keep a close eye on them. :)
Best regards!
