Unidentified ascomycete on herbaceous stems
Francois Guay, 03-12-2024 02:17
Francois GuayI found this species back in September. Growing on damp dead herbaceous stems.
•Spores 17.7-24.9 x 3.7-4.4 microns
• Asci are IKI +
Any idea what it might be? Thanks

Here is the iNat observation link for the full quality photos:

Re : Unidentified ascomycete on herbaceous stems
The micros do not seem to be much alive. The apical ring suggests a Hymenoscyphus. Is the apo colour perhaps from senescence? What diameter? Do they have a stalk?

Finally the excipulum should be looked. But with dead state only I have problems.

Re : Unidentified ascomycete on herbaceous stems
Thank you, Zotto. I did this microscopy back in August, but next time I will take more care to include all the necessary parts in my photos. I don’t know if the color was due to senescence, but they were all this color. They have a short, blackish stalk.
