Hi there,
I found a few very small apothecia on overgrown rotting wood, approx. 100 µm diam. Brown exterior. Asci multi-spored, approx. 20 x 7 µm. Spores somewhat triangular with 2(3?) elongated poles, 2 x 1.5 µm.
Any idea of what it could be?

What was the colour of the apothecia. Do they have an open disc or is it a perithecium? Iodine reaction?

A new prep shows bigger spores. I have measured 15 spores, (2)2,4-2,9(3,2) x 1,7-2,5 µm

I also noticed this discrepancy. The protologue has:

So it is in the scope. I forgot to consider the paraphyses. Can you see the septa and a capitate short-celled apex with brown exudate?

The apothecia were found on dead branch from an old hedgerow in an open hilly landscape.

Ah, very clear! So Acer would be a new substrate. Was the branch broken and lying on the ground? Usually the apothecia develop on attached xeric branches. Can you confirm Acer by wood anatomy if the branch was broken?

I'm quite sure, the branch was on the ground and that the apothecia were on the underside of the branch on/or close to perhaps Vuilleminia. Right next to them were also Flagelloscypha sp and another tiny unknown fungi - DMS-10454272 on https://svampe.databasen.org
I'm meeting with Thomas Læssøe in a few days and I'll discuss wood and funga with him. Maybe you would be interested in receiving the collection?

I do not need the collection I only want to be sure that the unusual substrate is correct. A strong handlens or a 5-10x macrolens is sufficient for viewing a cross-cut of the wood and identify the most common angiosperm gerena.

Back on the location I think I have solved the mystery about the branch on the ground. It had been cut off in one end and the other end was frayed. Looking at the other side, I noticed the hedge had been cut. Some of the branches were hanging, but still attached to the tree. (Two photos).
I'll get back to you about tree species after I've verified with Thomas.

I now realised that there was already a collection on Acer (see my folder in Ostropomycetidae).
