Orbilia on Tilia

Another dessication-tolerant Orbilia, this time about 2m up on an attached branch of Tilia. The curved ascospores are similar to curvatispora but at 7-10xc1 seem a bit shorter and wider. Asci are 26-30x3 and glued together with an epithecium. The paraphyses are constricted apically.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
Charles.

Re : Orbilia on Tilia
Hmm, this looks interesting!
The paraphyses are apically lanceolate which is rare in the O. auricolor group to which I would assign this species. But who knows! Helpful would be to study the margin. Are there hairs or glassy processes? A view on the exterior or a section would clarify also the presence of hair-like cell rows there.
I would need to try my key in the monograph, startig with section Arthrobotrys, I cannot remember a match.
In which region did you collect this?
O. curvatispora is a synonym of O. auricolor (which is a collective species).

Re : Orbilia on Tilia
A bit unsharp but it shows either exudate or short glassy processes.
The only species with lanceolate paraphyses I have in mind are O. jesu-laurae and O. blumenaviensis, but I thnínk both can safely be excluded.

Hi Zotto,
Very interesting. Likely to be an undescribed species? I'll look out for more material.
Best wishes,
Charles.
