Peziza ninguis?
Villalonga Paco, 04-02-2024 23:21
2.5-3 cm Peziza collected January 28 in Valencia, Spain. Growing on very wet wood with a thin layer of mud next to a stream.

Ascospores smooth, eguttulate (in Lugol they look like they have very slight verrugation):

(19.4) 19.7 - 21.3 (21.4) × (11.2) 11.9 - 13.4 (13.5) µm
Q = (1.5) 1.6 - 1.75 (1.8) ; N = 25
Me = 20.6 × 12.7 µm ; Qe = 1.6

Paraphyses moniliform with lobed segments, appex inflated.

Re : Peziza ninguis?
Hard to say with only one apothecium...
Moniliform paraphyses are rather common in Peziza s.str., especially when the specimens grow in a moist environment.
Spore size and excipulum structure exclude P. varia.
P. nivalis (syn. P. ninguis) is a nivicolous species, growing in spring, when the snow is melting.

Re : Peziza ninguis?
Thanks for your answer. I'll keep it as Peziza sp until I can find more.
