Hysterium on Alnus
Mirek Gryc, 03-11-2021 13:52
Hello all
Ascomata grew on Alnus trunk, deprived of bark. A clear discoloration of wood visible in the place of their growth.

However, I have a question about the observed discoloration in the slit of Ascomata under the influence of iodine (Lugol). In the area of the gap a fairly clear blue color occurred (I showed in the pictures). Is this discoloration typical for this species? I did not meet with such information.
Spores:
(20.8) 21.1 - 23.8 (24) × (7) 7.2 - 7.88 (7.9) µm
Q = (2.6) 2.7 - 3.2; N = 12
Me = 22.1 × 7.6 µm; QE = 2.9

regards
Mirek

Re : Hysterium on Alnus
Hi, looks like Hysterium pulicare, frequent on different wood or the bark, mostly on Betula and Quercus.

Regards Peter.
