Dear collegues,today I found a rich collection of a Hyaloscypha species on a Fagus branch submersed in floating water of a mountain river, associated with Hymenoscyphus imberbis and Graddonia coracina.
Negative porus reaction and absence of croziers, together with cylindric to bottle-shaped hairs and spores with big oil drops led to Parorbiliopsis minuta, now Hyaloscypha minuta.
This surprised me, as I know P./H. minuta only from hardwood on more or less drier places and have never heared of it growing aquatic.The whole collection is in good condition, and as it is accompagnied by Graddonia it is evidently not fallen into the river short time ago but must have been growing sbmersed already.
Has anyone found P./H. minuta in similar aquatic conditions yet?

Hi Andreas
I have two collections at least where the apos grew on fallen wood lying on moist ground, e.g. on underside of branch.
This reminds me also for Helotium uvidulum which is called after the aquatic growth of the single collection on which it was based, but is undoiubtedly a species of xeric wood.

besten Dank. Dann kann die Art also zumindest auch sehr feucht wachsen. Möglicherweise war der Ast vorher ufernah gelegen und nur teilweise unter Wasser. Hymenoscypus imberbis kann ja auch gelegentlich nur nass aber nicht aquatisch wachsen, aber von Graddonia kenne ich das nicht.
Gibt es eigentlich eine Publikation über die Neukombination Hyaloscypha minuta außer Index Fungorum no. 271? Und wie unterscheidet sich eigentlich letztlich Hyaloscypha intacta?

Über die Variation von H. minuta und H. intacta weiß man nicht so recht bescheid. Und Sequenzen gibt es noch zu wenig um da durchzublicken.
