Asco with Helminthosporium on Cytisus
William de Jong, 24-02-2021 11:51

A few days ago I found Helminthosporium velutinum/genistae on a dead attached branch of Cytisus scoparius in The Netherlands. Together with this Helminthosporium I found several 8-spored asci: 63,8-76,2 x 14,7-17,3 µm. The spores are narrowed towards one side, with a sept in the middle: 32,2-35,8 x 5,3-5,6 µm. I added some pictures, one in Lugol.
Does anyone have suggestion which species this could be?

Thanks in advance. Regards, William

PS: added some pictures of the Helminthosporium too. According to Voglmayr & Jaklitsch, 2017: "Helminthosporium genistae is morphologically similar to the polyphagous H. velutinum, which is also found on the type host, Cytisus scoparius." (Studies in Mycology 87: 43–76)

With such typical spores, I hoped this would be recognized. Anyone?
