Small pyreno on piece of wood
Sergey Markov,

I found a lot of small pyrenomycetes on piece of unidentified wood, occupied by Lindtneria leucobryophila. This piece of wood was buried deeply in leaf litter. I found these pyreno's only on wood from herbarium exsiccata of Lindtneria, and i don't have photos of this pyreno 'in situ', only have photos of dried specimens. On photos 'in situ' only Lindtneria is visible...
Perithecia up to 0.5 mm in diameter, part of them was turned whitish during drying. No hairs on perithecia are visible. Mycelial tomentum present at lower part of them.
Ascospores mostly aseptate, but some multiseptate.
Ascospores measure in Melzer after NH4OH:
(49.04) 52.74 - 64.06 (77.46) × (3.87) 4.72 - 5.82 (6.43) µm
Q = (8.79) 9.76 - 13.00 (15.37) ; N = 41
Me = 58.57 × 5.25 µm ; Qe = 11.27
Q = (8.79) 9.76 - 13.00 (15.37) ; N = 41
Me = 58.57 × 5.25 µm ; Qe = 11.27
Ascospores measure in water (from another spcimen)
(46.03) 47.08 - 56.14 (57.19) × (3.89) 4.36 - 5.54 (6.06) µm
Q = (8.59) 9.08 - 11.09 (12.71) ; N = 19
Me = 50.60 × 5.01 µm ; Qe = 10.19
Q = (8.59) 9.08 - 11.09 (12.71) ; N = 19
Me = 50.60 × 5.01 µm ; Qe = 10.19
More information is on attached photos.
What this is may be? Lasiosphaeria sp.? Which species?

Re : Small pyreno on piece of wood
Thank You very much, Andrew!
I first also assumed this species, but length of ascospores up to 64.06 (77.46) um seems to be very long. Or such greater spore length is normal for this species?

Re : Small pyreno on piece of wood
If you only measure 5 or 6 collections, you will find a small range in spore lengths. I measured over 200 collections of Lasiosphaeria ovina for my Ph.D. and found a very large range in ascospore lengths including up to your longest lengths.
Cheers,
Andy

Re : Small pyreno on piece of wood
Thank You again, Andrew!
Now I'm sure it's L.ovina.
