black effuse anamorph/hyphomycete
Stefan Blaser, 30-08-2019 10:26
Dear all,

I found this anamorph on decorticated wood of Acer pseudoplatanus.

I thought that characteristics are quite specific but failed to identify it myself.

Thin, effused, black velvety.

Konidia very dark brown with a straight germ slit and an apical germ pore, 11-14 x 5.5-6 µm, formed terminally on short-celled, hyaline hyphae.

Any ideas are welcome,

Stefan

This is reminiscent of a species of Wardomyces. The conidiogenesis looks OK for that but the habitat is not at all characteristic.

Hello David,

Thanks a lot for your Input. It seems indeed morphologically very similar to Wardomyces in many respects.

Doesn's seem to be as easy as I thought it might be...
