hellolast saturday I found on wet wood (maybe Carpinus) laying in a wet pond, a greyish ascomycete. I am unable to choose any genus for this collection
apothecia, 1-2 mm, greyish, reddening when aged, turbinate, sessile
asci 110-125x13µm, IKI negative, with crozier
paraphysis with refractive content, 2 µm wide
spores with many guttules, (16)-20-22x4,5-5 µm
excipulum medular textura intricata, external cells, colored under the lens, piriform, globose.
any suggestion is welcome
thank you
best wishes
François

Re : Helotiale on wet wood
Hi Francois
this seems to be my Hymenoscyphus (Phaeohelotium) griseobrunneus. But this species must be without croziers. I am not sure that yours has. Do you have a clearer pic? This one might be H-.

Re : Helotiale on wet wood
Thank you Zotto.
The species is not keyed in both keys you provided, so it is probably a new species. What is its current status?
I sent you in private a higher quality picture of the ascus base. I still have the collection in the fridge so I will do another trial to show croziers, if there is really ones.
cheers
François

Re : Hymenoscyphus on wet wood
I am quite sure this shows asci without croziers, so it is clearly my species.
My key is undoubtedly much too old, though I saw this species the first time in 2006.
One of the hundreds of species that cannot be identified with the literature. But this group is complex, you see it in my Phaeoh.-folder.

Re : Hymenoscyphus on wet wood
Michel
