Bernard
the conidia look as of Helicoon sp. Are you sure they derive from these minute apothecioid looking fruitbodies?
Regards
Martin
Bernard
the conidia of Helicoon are born from single or branched conidiophores, it is a Hyphomycete. No fruitbodies in a broader sense are expected here. I consider these as a contamination or a parasite on your tiny apothecia. Did you try to squash of them slightly in a mount, so they are still visible in their shape?
Is picture 7 again with Lugol or is this conidium naturally brown?
By the way: in the lower Part of pic 7 are maybe the asci of the white apothecia visible....
Regards
Martin
Thank you for the informations !
I have again taken small "apothecia" on spruce cone and I observed in the water without squashing them and confirm that they are the spiral conidia. The picture 7 was made in water, since the brown conidie would probably mature.
Here are 4 pictures made in water and without squashing.
Bernard
I do not know anything about this genus ! That discovery for me!
Best regards,
Bernard
But still we don't know the identity of Bernards teleomorph ascomycete.
Bernard, please try a squash with asci and paraphyses. Don't let you be diverted by the big conidia... ;-)

Martin
Bernard
but this H. uncipila is a yellow species. The one presented in this thread is white to translucent... Not necessarily a Molisia by beeing the possible teleomorph of the Helicodendron.

Martin
I'll watch the cone again, but actually I saw on a resin flow another white ascomycete. I will give news tonight.
Best regards,
Bernard
Here are micro and macro pictures of another fungus that grew on the same cone (with Hamatocanthoscypha uncipila and Helicodendron giganteum).
Conidia are globose and uniguttulated : 2,5 mu diameter
Are there a possible relationship with Helicodendron giganteum or not ?
Thanks in advance for your answer !
Bernard
No I still have apothecia of Hamatocanthoscypha uncipula which is drawn the picture 7. Do you want I observe apothecia of this species again ?
Bernard
Thank you for your message and congratulations on your beautiful photos!
Do you think Helicodendron giganteum can be an imperfect form of Hamatocanthoscypha uncipila or the presence of these two species on the same cone is it coincidence?
Best regards,
Bernard
