Hello all
I found this Calonectria growing on old rotting Ilex leaves and determined it as possibly Calonectria ilicicola, but understand there's a 'similar' Calonectria pyrochroa, which I have very little information on.
Found in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England
Spore Size = 22 x 4 micron
Ascus 60 - 70 x 9 - 10 micron
Any help or comments are as always much appreciated.
Best Wishes - John
Hi John,
The solution is perhaps here : IMA fungus - Vol. 1 n°2 / 101-108

Alain

Could this not be Hydropisphaera erubescens?
@John - With regard to Calonectria pyrochroa, see http://www.ascofrance.com/search_forum/25038 for a discussion re that taxon on ASCOfrance. I shall definitely have a look at that interesting paper to which Alain has pointed us.
regards
Chris

I think Alain has provided a good pointer. We shall see :)

Yes, I look attentively your photos. It isn't a Calonectria and it looks like an Hydropisphaera. Chris gives you the solution. H. erubescens, common on Ilex leaves.
You can check the Calonectria now... And perhaps you will find an Ijuhya species growing on a such substrate too.
