Ostropoloid fungus on Ammophila
Enrique Rubio, 11-05-2015 19:21
Enrique Rubio

Hi to everybody

This Karstenia species was found on debris of Ammophila arenaria. This fungus seems to match with Karstenia idaei, a fungus that we found commonly on subalpine woody sustrates, but I have doubts with Karstenia macer a species that I don't know although it has a negative asci IKI reaction.

Can you help me?

Thanks again

I can hardly believe that the asci are negative. Did you try with KOH-pretreatment?

K. idaei is really a good option, though the spores are a bit narrow. K. macer is usually with grey-olive exterior.
