Hi,found on Vaccinium myrtillus.Asci: IKI –, 8-s

« < 1 2 3 4 5 > »
Capronia semiimmersa
Eduard Osieck, 15-04-2015 16:48
Capronia with partly submuriform spores: 16-19 x 5-5,5 um; 3-4-5 transversale and 0-2 longitudinale septa. IKI-. Perithecia (0,15 mm) half immersed in wood.
Could this be C. semiimmersa?
It looks very much like the find discussed on the forum/ included in the database:
http://www.ascofrance.com/search_forum/16959 and
http://www.ascofrance.com/search_recolte/3236

Can somebody provide one of the following papers (with descriptions of this species):
Réblová M. 1996. Two new Capronia species from the Czech Republic. Czech Mycol. 49(2): 77-83
or
Candoussau F. & Sulmont P. 1972. Dictyotrichiella semiimmersa nov. sp. Rev. Mycol. 36(3-4): 238-242.

Thanks for the help in advance!
Eduard

Re : Capronia semiimmersa
Hi Eduard,

I agree that the morphology of the ascospores fits C. semi-immersa quite well (up to 20 µm long, > 5 µm broad, often inequilateral/slightly bent). Capronia pulcherrima for example is similar but has smaller ascospores.

I'm going to send you the two papers.

Best wishes,
Gernot

Greetings Peter.

Re : Capronia semi-immersa
Hi Gernot,

Thank you very much for sending both papers.

The other characters appear to match the species quite well. New for the Netherlands!

I guess the 5-septate Capronia I found a year ago (from the same locality and substrate), may have been also this species (but without noting longitudinal septa, spores not fully developed?): http://www.ascofrance.com/search_forum/28543

Hello Peter,
Thanks for your offer to send the paper.
It is nice to get such key papers for identification so fast so that the material can be checked again with descriptions at hand.
Regards, Eduard
