Je viens de récolter des octosporas, couleur jaune orangé, sur un mur en briques, parasitant sur Bryum capillare (détermination approuvée). Apothécies de 1,3 à 3 mm discoïdes, marge un peu blanchâtre et éraillée. Asques octosporés, spores lisses, fusoïdes/ellipsoïdes X=11,5 x 27,5 µm, X=Q 2,3-2,4-2,5, contenant en majorité deux grosses gouttes, parfois accompagnées d'autres minuscules. Les paraphyses plus ou moins raides sont un peu élargies au sommet X=4 à 7 µm et contiennent un pigment granuleux. Voir photos en annexe.
Y a-t-il quelqu'un qui a une idée de quelle espèce il s'agit?

Avec de telles spores fusiformes, je ne vois que deux possibilités : Octospora coccinea et Octospora gemmicola.
Avec les deux grosses gouttes, y a-t-il aussi deux autres gouttes plus petites ce qui correspondrait mieux avec O. coccinea ? Je ne les distingue pas sur la photo.
J'aurais cependant une préférence pour O. gemmicola, bien que les spores soient un peu grandes .

Benkert separated O. gemmicola from O. axillaris among others based on the substrate (Bryum) and mentions that his species should be sought a.o. between collections of O. axillaris. If O. axillaris would occur now on Bryum too, I wonder if O. gemmicola is a good species.

there is also a difference in spore-morphology. axillaris-spores are longer and often a bit assymetric in shape. gemmicola-spores have in ideal case one big oil-drop with two little at the poles. axillaris two oil-drops with the same size. oil-content in my view is very important (and often a constant feature) in octospora. so working with dry/dead material ist very problematic ...
