Dermateaceae from Rubus chamaemorus
Nina Filippova, 14-07-2014 16:34
This quite distinctive species commonly met on stems of Rubus chamaemorus submerged in Sphagnum. It grows nearby with some Mollisia sp., but it has this distinct encrusted excipulum and dentate edge, pale vacuoles in paraphyses, so may be another genus?

Apothecia sessile or with very short stem, up to 700 mk broad, outer surface dark brown to black, rough, hymenium gray, edge shortly dentate from clumped hairs; when young dentate edge more pronounced; single or in groups on stems submerged in Sphagnum.

Excipulum from round brown cells about 10 mk, outer cells with rough brown incrustation; edge with clavate hairs sitting on 3-5 round cells, total length up to 40 mk, with the same brown incrustation; asci with crozier, with euamyloid ring, 40-47 x 4.4-5.4 mk (n=10); paraphyses narrow-lanceolate, with not contrast vacuoles, 45-50 x 3-3.5 mk; spores fusoid, heteropolar, without oils, 6.8 (5.9-7.9) x 1.7 (1.5-1.9) mk (n=20).
