Apothecia sessile or with very short stem, up to 700 mk broad, outer surface dark brown to black, rough, hymenium gray, edge shortly dentate from clumped hairs; when young dentate edge more pronounced; single or in groups on stems submerged in Sphagnum.
Excipulum from round brown cells about 10 mk, outer cells with rough brown incrustation; edge with clavate hairs sitting on 3-5 round cells, total length up to 40 mk, with the same brown incrustation; asci with crozier, with euamyloid ring, 40-47 x 4.4-5.4 mk (n=10); paraphyses narrow-lanceolate, with not contrast vacuoles, 45-50 x 3-3.5 mk; spores fusoid, heteropolar, without oils, 6.8 (5.9-7.9) x 1.7 (1.5-1.9) mk (n=20).
