Perithecia globose, up to 250 mk in diameter, with wide pore, surrounded by some short bristles, lower part with abundant brown hyphae descending to leaf surface.
Excipulum from angular brown cells 6 mk; seta short, obtuse, segmented, brown, up to 55 mk long, 4 mk broad at base; descending hyphae brown, 4-5 mk broad; asci fissitunicate, about 6-8 mk broad, cylindrical and up to 150 mk long when expanded; paraphysoid elements abundant, segmented, anastomozing, 1.5 mk broad; spores ellipsoid, 2-celled, yellow to light brown, ornamented by warts, 12 (10.1-13.3) x 5.5 (4.8-6) mk (n=21).
