Schizothecium conicum
Joop van der Lee, 27-11-2013 17:21
Joop van der LeeFound on sheep dung,

Fruitbody: 865.14x427.46 um; body is covered with agglutinated hairs up to 3 cells. Most of the hairs occur around the base of the neck, also scattered on the whole body.

Asci: not measured but estimated to be around 188.36x20.48 um; 8-spored (photo-2)
Spores: uniseriate; 24.33-26.51x14.15-15.42 um; pedicel 9.07-10.38x2.25-2.38 um; upper cauda 41.01-83.38x2.74 um; lower cauda 53.55x3.33 um probably covering the whole pedicel (photo's 4&5).

Hairs: At the neck pointed 34.86x8.07 3 cells (photo-7); at the lower body 35.32 um rounded top (photo-8).

Sorry for the fact that the macrophoto of the fruitbody is not in focus, was not possible.

Joop

Re : Schizothecium squamulosa?
No Joop, this is not Schizothecium squamulosum.
Your species seems to be again Schizothecium conicum with reduced hairtufts.

Sch. squamulosum has a remarkable long pedicel; own measurements 15-20 (24) µm, broader spores between 16 - 19 µm and a length/width ratio from 1,3 - 1,5.

At "Beiträge zur Kenntnis coprophiler Pilze (1), Teil 2" from Peter and me you find a short description at pages 228/229.
If you don't know this paper, you can find it in our discussion board:
