Grey disco
Yatsiuk Iryna, 09-05-2013 10:57
Yatsiuk IrynaHello, friends!
Last summer I collected and studied microscopically this specimen, but I still have no idea about it.
It was one grey apothecium ca 0,7 cm in diameter, collected on decayed deciduous unidentified wood.
Asci with croziers, apex blueing in Melzer's reagent. Unfortunately I have not measured them at that time, but I will do it soon, when access to microscope and a camera.
Spores are 20-27*9,3-10,7 um, apiculate, apiculi are 3-3,5 um long, tapering, with 1,2 or more large guttules.
What it can be?
Sincerely,
Irina

Re : Grey disco
Hi Irina, can you tell whether your spore length range includes apiculi or not...

Cheers,
 Neven

Re : Grey disco
Thecotheus rivicola and holmskjoldii have roundish polar caps, not acute apiculi

Re : Grey disco
Hi Zotto, Irina & Dirk. I agree! It cannot be genus Thecotheus. Note also the pigmentation of hymenial elements, also thecothei do not have lipid bodies in spores...

Re : Grey disco
yes, i was too fast with thecotheus ... trapped by combination of grey colours, j+ and appendixes.

Re : Grey disco
Hello, Dirk, Zotto and Neven!
Thank you for your answers.
Neven, the spore length includes apiculi.

With best wishes,
Irina

Re : Grey disco
Zotto, my specimen seems to be very close to Peziza apiculata! I was confused with grey colour and small size of that single fruitbody.
As Dirk said, spores really are minutely warted, but it fits well to P.apiculata.

Best regards,
Irina

Chers Tous,

Voici, une photo de P apiculata et sa micro (j'espère que ça passera). A noter que les apotécies sont d'abord vert olive, puis se colorent assez rapidement de gris à noir.

Cordialement

René

Re : Grey disco
Hi, Rene
On your picture are shown very interesting ornamentation details. In my specimen I saw only single apiculus on each spore end (or no apiculus at all). I will now that there could be more.
With best regards,
Irina
