Bryophilous discomycete on Lophozia
Gernot Friebes,

G. Bauer sent me photos of an unknown bryophilous discomycete which we have never seen before. We hope that you have an idea! Here is a description: On a mossy rock (granite), on Lophozia cf. ventricosa. Apothecia 0.5–1.5 mm, yellow orange with slightly lighter margin, underneath light yellow, hardly any stipe. Ascospores (11.5)13–15 x 3–3.5 µm, partly 1-septate. Asci 55–62 µm long, Melzer's/IKI+, with croziers. Paraphyses filiform, septate in the lower part, furcate. Hairs ± straight, smooth. Conspicuous feature: the apothecia sometimes change colour in tap water or aqua dest. and become ± pinkish, in KOH they always become immediately vinaceous.
Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Bryophilous discomycete on Lophozia
I know these images, and I cannot find a name for it. There exists a very similar species with shorter spores which grows on Nowellia in Croatia, likewise without a name. Both are undoubtedly congeneric, but in which genus to place??

Yes, he already mentioned that you have seen these photos. Do you maybe have more information on the species from Croatia? Sound very interesting.

Re : Bryophilous discomycete on Lophozia
I have actually seen it only in a somewhat overmature state. It was Lothar Krieglsteiner who collected it and made a drawing.
The spores were 6.5-11 x 2.5-4 µm, asci pure red in IKI, some of paraphyses multiguttulate, irregularly flexuous.
Here I attach some photos
