Diaporthe on Salix branch
Björn Wergen,

Chère collegues,I have found this small Diaporthe species on dead attached Salix twix with single growing perithecia, embedded in the bark and with 0,1-0,3 mm diam. Microscopically I think it should be a member of the genus Diaporthe, but I am not sure what it is exactly (D. rudis for example has similar spore size and shape, but grows on other substrates).
It has also similarities with D. alnea, described in Breitenbach&Kränzlin, Vol 1, which seems to have Alnus on the top of its priority list.
Perhaps you have an idea ;)
I have probably seen very inconspicuous appendixes on both endings.

björn

Re : Diaporthe on Salix branch
I think it could be Diaporthe eres, as thought by Wehmeyer (I call it for myself "eres complex").

Re : Diaporthe on Salix branch
Thanks Alain for your opinion. I also thought about eres, but this finding was completely another one than I had on Ulmus last year.

Re : Diaporthe on Salix branch
Perhaps another idea. You haven't given several informations about macroscopy and I ask me if it could be other genus. Have you looked in Plagiostoma (Meijia, SIM68, 2011) ?
But I always think it could D. eres.

Re : Diaporthe on Salix branch
Yes I did, but except P. salicellum with different spore size and P. exstocollum with different substrate there is no species which fits well to my finding. I think D. eres should be right, I have compared it with my finding from 2011 and spores are nearly the same, but macroscopic appearance is so variable.
thanks again Alain
