Hymenoscyhus on salix
Marja Pennanen, 18-10-2010 12:49
Hello,

long time since last subjet. I've picked about 150 kg of Boletus edulis and sold most to get some money for a possible France journey in spring...
The first snow is melting away, but before it came I found two Hymenoscyphuses on a Salix caprea twig. They are 3 and 5 mm wide and 10-15 mm high:

The stipe turns brown, when dried.

The spores were 11-16x4-5 with many small droplets.
Paraphyses were 2-3 micrometers wide at tips and with VB:s.

Asci were 110-130x7-8 and IKI+.

Re:Hymenoscyhus on salix
Once again I got no determination with the help of Nordic Macromycetes or the Danish acomycetes key and have no time to check elsewhere.

Season greetings from Marja

Hi Marja

we expect the first snow soon :-(

Looks very white but from the big size I suspect a yellowish fungus: Hymenosc. conscriptus

Hello,

and thanks.

I rapidly checked your DVD.
I forgot to tell, that I doubt, that this got no croziers, but just doubt. Should check better and the width of asci too. Maybe I've got some time this evening.

It's a pitty, that I got no time to make a snowman or a snowball lantern for candles. Even if they are so temporal, they are reminders of the beauty of the season. And besides, we should be childish fools sometimes, it's enjoyable :)
