Yellowish on picea
Marja Pennanen, 18-04-2010 17:45
I found these tiny ascomycetes on Picea abies. They are about 0,2 mm wide and distinctly hairy.

Re:Yellowish on picea
Hairs are about 100x2 micrometers and tend to be as if they are clued together, but didn't melt in KOH..
Asci is about 40x8-9 and spores 8-10x2-3 micrometers.

Re:Yellowish on picea
Witaj Piotr,

it certainly looks the same. I just have absolutely no information of the genus.
Just checked and no representatives of that genus has been found in Finland at least before year 2000 :)
Thankfully (dziękuję) : Marja

Re:Yellowish on picea
Hello again,
I found nothing sensible from internet of this species and very little of the genus too (that Echinula asteriadiformis grows on rubus and is the only species in the genus ;) )
Does that mean that the species is a quite recently found or somenting?

Curiously: Marja

Re:Yellowish on picea
Dear Marja,

this is an undescribed species and position in genus Echinula is not clear, but this species fit Echinula very well.
I think the best is, we wait for Zotto`s comment, because this is Zotto`s found and nom.prov.
