Dear Miguel

This seems to be Melanospora brevirostris (Fuck.) Tul. See Kers, L., The Swedish Geoporae and their Pyrenomycete Infections, Sv. Bot. Tidsk. 68, pp.344-354, (1974). I like Melanospora very much, can I get a part of this collection from you ?

regards
Piotr

Dear Miguel,
I think your fungus is Melanospora brevirostris (Fuckel) Höhnel, this species is common on Geopora arenosa.

Regards,
Christian

Re:Geopora foliacea parasite
Dear Perz

Really it looks like the same species, but M. brevirostris has smaller spores, though the same Q. I do not have Kers's article and do not find it in the Internet, could you provide it to me?

If you give me your postal address I will send it to you.

Thank you very much,

Thanks Cristian

If it is common on G. arenosa perhaps it will not be unussual on G. arenicola.

Good night

Do you know whether this species, Melanospora brevirostris, is cited in Spain? I know it is cited in Denmak, France, England and Italy in Europe.

Thank you.

Ciao Miguel,
I do not know this genus. I gave my collection available to ship to Piotr but I have not heard anything. Is it confirmed Melanospora brevirostris?
I think there is an article from Spain but I do not know if the discovery is Spanish ... I must try...
Ciao, Carlo

Re:Geopora foliacea parasite
Hi Carlo

I think so, following Kers and Doveri, I think there is not doubt about M. brevirostris.

M. fallax Zukal and M. fimbriata (O. Rostr.) Petch, the nearest species, have a small neck, and M. brevirostris only has a small group of hairs in the upper portion.

Re:Geopora foliacea parasite

Miguel

I never had time to study and stayed just Melanospora cf brevirostris. The article I quoted is the same as Raul, but I do not have a copy.

Ciao Miguel, ciao Raul. Carlo
