Found this one on Epilobium angustifolium. Have hard give it a name, anyone knows it?
The apotecia was more whiteish when fresh than pictures show. around 0,5mm high.
Spores 23-27x 5,5-7um
Best regards,
Robin

I do not think it is a Hymenoscyphus
Hello Robin,
I think it must be another genus, as the paraphyses content is not multiguttulate but a vacuolar body and the ascus apical apparatus is not of Hymenoscyphus type (better Calycina-type). The collection somewhat reminds me a bit of an Allophylaria, but that may be wrong. Maybe somebody else can say more.
Yours, Lothar

Re : Hymenoscyphus
Hi!
thank you.
yes, that was why i had so hard find a candidate in Hymenoscyphus.
should have thought about vacuolar body.
Allophylaria macrospora seems to fit macro and micros.. quick overview i think.
all suggestions welcome :)

Re : Hymenoscyphus
Lothar is right, it is Allophylaria macrospora, which rareöy occurs on herbs. Lothar, you found it on Epilobium in the Rhön, 7.X.2001 (HB 7056).
It is strange that three of the four samples in my folder were from Epilobium angustifolium, and one on Lysimachia.
Perhaps it could be a separate species, although I cannot see a difference.

Hello Zotto,
yes - A. macrospora. I did not look it up but deep in my mind I knew it :-)

Thank you for answer.
I see in my own folder that i in 2020 found it several times on fraxinus bark on weakened trees here in southern sweden.

Hello all
Here in Yorkshire (Northern England) all 7 records were made on Chamerion angustifolium - e.g. http://www.ascofrance.com/base-de-donnees-fiche/3069

Re : Allophylaria macrospora Epilobium angustifolium
That would be a case for a sequencing study...
I see Dennis 1978 and Ellis & Ellis 1985 have it also on Epilobium angustifolium!

Re : Allophylaria macrospora Epilobium angustifolium
I really wonder about these two groups, Epilobium vs. various woody hosts. But the third group is that of monocots (Typha, Schoenoplectus and mainly Juncus). In the latter group the spores are narrower (*20-30 x 3.5-5.7), but the other two have the same spores. I once studied the type of Helotium canum Kirschstein which was on Salix and which I found to be a synonym. In the same paper, Kirschstein described Phialea macrospora on Populus, only one page before. Kirschstein's descriptions are brief and it is unclear why he placed them in two different genera. Spore size is different but those of H. canum are measured too small (15-20 x 4-6), I found them 18-22 x 5.3-6.2, while in P. macrospora Kirschstein measured 20-22 x 4. Kirschstein described the excipulum as prosenchymatic in both species, and wrote "quite tough" in H. canum but nothing in P. macr. H. canum was said to be 0.5-1 mm diam. while I found m´rehydrated 0.35-0.5. For P. macr. he only wrote "very small".
For herbicolous collections I do not know a name in the literature.
