Diatrypaceae - Eutypa, Eutypella?
Jenny Seawright, 16-02-2015 21:27
Jenny SeawrightHello all,

Found on Gorse, Ulex europaeus but the closest I've managed is a Diatrypaceae and possibly Eutypa or Eutypella?

Stroma were brownish, ostioles protruding. Spores +/- curved, most with a small guttule at each end, (8)10-12(15) x 2.5(3) µm.

Help appreciated!
With regards,
Jenny

Hi Enrique - I'm only slowly becoming familiar with mycological terms but I think the photograph below shows it as whitish?

I've found this fungus on most of the Ulex I've collected specimens from on a coastal heath in southern England.

Hi Jenny,
the internal structure is more easily seen on a vertical section.
Cheers,
Jacques

Hi Jenny

It's possible, but Jacques's pic show us perfectly what the white entostroma is.

Please, try again

Thank you Jacques for your help and Enrique for your patience! I've added a photograph of a vertical section, though the quality is poor.

Hi Jenny

I think the entostroma is withish. So Eutypella leprosa could be a good choice
