Pyrenopeziza/Mollisia on stems of Impatiens
Mlcoch Patrik, 06-11-2021 19:59
Mlcoch PatrikHi,
Please about help with determination of this collection.
Found on the dead stems of Impatiens glandulifera in the Czech Republic, 2. 9. 2021.
Marginal cells 16 x 5,5 um, excipular cells 13-15 x 10-12,5 um, dark brown. Asci IKI(+?), 35-40 X 5-7 um, paraphyses 30 x 1,8 um. Ascospores fusoid, hyaline, OCI=0-1, 7-9(9,5) x 1,7-2,5 um, Q=3,5, Me=8 x 2,3 um. KOH reaction of excipulum negative.
Any idea?? Thanks.

Re : Pyrenopeziza/Mollisia on stems of Impatiens
To me this looks like a Mollisia. The crucial KOH reaction refers to the hymenium. Did you study living paraphyses? Herewith you can distinguish Pyrenopeziza which has no VBs (refractive vacuoles). To suggest a species name is difficult. M. revincta has a yellow KOH-reaction

The your methods are not appropriate

- water as mountant

- don't apply pressure on the cover slip when studying sections and only very slight pressure for squash mounts.
