Yellow discomycetes 4,5 mm with short stem on twigs
Daniel Ghyselinck, 25-10-2024 22:17
Hi everybody,

Found in mountain area at about 1000m in a mixed Abies, Fagus (+ Picea) forest in France (Isère).
This yellow discomycetes looks like a Hymenoscyphus but is quite big, diameter up to 4,5 mm.

Ascus are very faintly blue at the top (2 small dots) in IKI.
Paraphyses are filled with yellow guttules in water and become dark red-brown in IKI.
Spores are +/- cylindrical, without guttules, OCL 0(1), smooth, 11 - 15 x 5 - 5,5 µm.

I didn't find anything in my litterature up to now, but I suppose it is a common spieces in mountain area.

Best regards,
Daniel

Hello,
On Salix ? I think it's Hymenoscyphus conscriptus.

Re : Yellow discomycetes 4,5 mm with short stem on twigs
Thank you Andgelo,

Salix is possible, we where close to a river, and I did not collect the twig myself.
Your suggestion looks close, but I wonder if this species could have spores without nearly any OCL?
I will check again, but I didn't see any spore with one side more acute than the other, wich is normally the case for H. conscriptus...

Bonjour Daniel, D'accord avec Andgelo.
De plus la forme en ciboire des apothécies est assez caractéristique de H. conscriptus.
Dans mes récoltes documentées de cette espèce, l'OCI est très bas également.
AmitiésMichel

Re : Yellow discomycetes 4,5 mm with short stem on twigs
Bonjour Michel,

Merci pour cette confirmation.
La forme semble effectivement bien typique d'après ce que je peux voir sur le net et dans ma doc.

Amitiés,
Daniel
