Lachnum on Cyperaceae
Juuso Äikäs, 11-06-2023 21:08
I found some Lachnums today growing in a bog. The substrate was either Carex or Eriophorum.

Asci 8-spored, IKI+(bb), without croziers. Paraphyses full of small VBs, hairs granulose and with uninflated or at most slightly inflated tips. Spores with a rather high OCI, measuring 12.9 - 14.8 × 2.8 - 3.1 µm.

Ideas?

Re : Lachnum on Cyperaceae
This is Lachnum juncinum. That species was described from Australia, but it fits well European records, except that the absence of croziers remains to be clarified in the type. Records are from Carex, Cladium, Eriophorum and Juncus.

Re : Lachnum on Cyperaceae
Thank you for the ID and info! Apparently there's quite a lot of variety with the spore length.
