White asco on the cortex of Prunus spinosa?
Mirek Gryc, 04-06-2022 12:23

Hello
I would ask for help in identifying this little asco.
Pictures of spores are not the best quality so I would like to inform you that they usually contain two very small droplets of oil, placed polar.
Regards
Mirek

Indeed, and it appears to be the form with simple-septate asci. But the pale colour should also point to P. earoleucus or inspersus, I am never sure how these principally subtropical species may occur in warmer regions of Europe. I remember they have inamyloid asci, and P. pulveraceus generally amyloid asci.

Re : White asco on the cortex of Prunus spinosa?
Thank you, both of you!
I suspected that this is something from Lachnaceae but this is a very rich group so I preferred to use your help. As always, I was not disappointed: D
Everything fits perfectly with Proliferodiscus pulveraceus. My camera slightly distorts the colors, the hymenium was not so pale, rather slightly yellowish. Yes Zotto, asci simple septa, IKI (+).
Kind regards
Mirek
