Found recently in New York. These small, 1mm diameter max., apothecia exude red pigment in KOH.
Asci 35-42 x 4-5µm, IKI-, croziers present.
Spores bi-guttulate, 4.8-7 x 1.3-2µm.
Paraphyses narrow, not broadening near the tip.

Re : Yellow-brown cup with ionomidotic reaction
In earlier times thos was the ochre-yellow form of Ionomidotis fulvotingens. Since DNA exists, it is a species very different from that. But until now, no name could be found in the literature, although the species is not really rare.
In my folder "Ionomidotis aff., fulvotingens" you can find it.
I would be glad to know the collection data and the substrate.

Re : Yellow-brown cup with ionomidotic reaction
Thank you! I made this collection at Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers, New York... Lat: 40.965233
Lon: -73.888222
The substrate is hardwood, but I'm not really able to say more.
