Valsa/Cytospora pruinosa?
Karl Soler Kinnerbäck, 24-03-2021 12:22
This species was found on a branch of Fraxinus excelsior, Uppsala, Sweden, march.

Spores 15-19 x 4-5

I read in Ellis Ellis about Valsa pruinosa and it seemed like a good candidate.

Does anyone know if this is correct or is it perhaps another species?

Re : Valsa/Cytospora pruinosa?
Yes, it is.
In external appearance it looks different from many other species of Valsa/Cytospora as it has no discs, only remnants of ectostroma.

Re : Valsa/Cytospora pruinosa?
Thanks Vera!

Can you recommend any good article or other literature where I can read about this species?
I have not found anything myself.

Re : Valsa/Cytospora pruinosa?
Hi Karl,

Many years ago, in 1998, I published info on this species in IMI Descriptions, under prioritized at that time name Valsa cypri (now Cytospora pruinosa). You can see it attached.
I am not aware of any more recent publications. The earlier ones you can find therein.
