Hello friends,
may I ask you for help ? I would need some idea or opinion.

Found on dead wood Fraxinus excelsior. I don't know how the amorphous stage of Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (Chalara fraxinea) actually looks macroscopic. The fruiting body is fragile, and contains structures that are pictured. Found both in January but also in September

Regards

Hi Palo,

have you tried (macro) reaction of the stroma(?) in KOH? To me it looks a bit like a germinating Hypoxylon.

Re : cf. Chalara fraxinea
Hi Tori,

Slightly yellow color reaction of "stroma" with 10% KOH. But I've also never not seen spore chaining with Hypoxylon sp. It looks more like chlamydiospores that produce conidia
