Bonjour,

Re : Helvella leucophaea vs Helvella pithyophila
Hi Nicolas,
at the moment you can't define if Helvella leucophaea (= H. pithyophila) is a species on its own, a variety of H. crispa or a synonym, because there is no type specimen available and still no epitype was designated.
But why not to follow Skrede et al. (2017)? They are able to define two different species - the one is Helvella crispa and the other one they call H. leucophaea.
Of course we have to wait untill they (or other authors) revise the Helvella-crispa-complex in detail. But up to then, I would call it Helvella leucophaea s. Skrede et al. 2017
Greetings,
Christoph
